Prerequisites: BIOL 101/L or BIOL 106/L and BIOL 107/L; CHEM 100/L, CHEM 101/L, or CHEM 103/L. Corequisite: BIOL 215. Preparatory: BIOL 281 or CHEM 235. Introduction to the biology of major groups of microorganisms, including their role in infectious diseases, their role in nature, and their relationship to humankind. Lecture 2 hours, lab 6 hours.
