ENGL 474: US LIT 1860-1912

Preparatory: Completion of either one lower division literature course or ENGL 355. Study of U.S. literature and culture of the late nineteenth century, including Reconstruction and the Gilded Age, with attention to such movements as realism, regionalism, and literature of the Progressive era. The course will also consider the ways that diverse literary cultural production is influenced by shifting social, economic, intellectual, and global developments. Available for graduate credit.
