MATH 196BXL: BUS MATH EXTD-LAB

California State University, Northridge

Corequisite: MATH 103. Open to all students enrolled in MATH 103. Students entering CSUN in need of prerequisite support in mathematics may enroll in MATH 196BXL instead of MATH 103L and MATH 091B. This extended lab course covers concepts of algebra, calculus, and mathematical applications relevant to business. The active learning approach to problem solving practiced in this course enhances the lecture experience, strengthens the general academic skills necessary for post-secondary study, and provides prerequisite knowledge for success in MATH 103 and subsequent courses in business majors. Direct instruction builds students¿ sense of academic belonging, understanding of the study cycle, and persistence through productive struggle. The hybrid lab environment allows students to both work at their own pace and receive small-group instruction with the laboratory instructor on the prerequisite topics as well as the MATH 103 material. 6 hours lab per week.
