Examination of the federal laws, policies, and government institutions that create and enforce immigration laws and the effects that they have on immigrant communities. The course explores important immigration laws, the role of the president in immigration law and policy, immigrant and nonimmigrant visas, admission, removal, asylum, and citizenship.
