TH 337: ASIAN POPULAR ENTERT

Prerequisites: Upper division standing. Completion of the lower division writing requirement. The course offers a survey of Asian theatre and popular entertainment, exploring through a cultural lens how tradition informs modern innovations in a global context. Students will explore classical Asian theatre as well as new performing arts and popular entertainment of the 21st century, including Bollywood films, anime, manga, robot theatre in Japan, K-Dramas, K-Pop and K-Hip hop of South Korea.
