FORL 30: From Chinese Traditions to Multicultural Paradigms: Martial Arts Films around the World.

Course introduces students to martial arts films from Brazil, China, Japan, Thailand, Norway, and the United States. The class will first discuss the philosophical and cultural traditions of this genre before focusing on contemporary films. All films carry English subtitles, and no prior knowledge of any Asian languages is required. Satisfies GE Area: 3A. Arts (Formerly Area C1).
