Students use an intersectional framework to examine LGBTQ+ history in the United States. The course emphasizes how the development of institutions and ideals, the formation of identities, and shifting contexts of equality and inequality have impacted LGBTQ+ people through time. Satisfies GE UD Area: 4.Self, Society, and Equality in the U.S. (Formerly Area S). Prerequisite(s): Completion of Core General Education and upper division standing are prerequisites to all UD GE courses. Completion of, or co-registration in, 100W is strongly recommended.
