LSTP 85: Fieldwork in the Humanities

Course is designed to provide prospective K-8 teachers to California¿s public-school classrooms with initial exposure to the elementary classroom setting. Through a combination of readings, videos, hands-on activities, and field experience, students will become familiar with the duties and responsibilities that elementary teaching entails. Students will also gain a deeper understanding of the California Teacher Expectations (TPE) and begin to apply them to a carefully-curated lesson plan. Coursework also involves 20 hours of observing in a public-school classroom with a credentialed teacher. These 20 hours can count towards the 45 pre-professional hours required by Lurie College of Education. Lecture 2 hours/Lab 3 hours.
