Introduction to Python: data types, control flow, functions. Python for data science: manipulating arrays and data frames (Numpy and Pandas), data visualization (Matplotlib). Applications in Machine Learning (SciKitLearn). SQL basics: designing and accessing a relational database, performing database administration, and writing queries of intermediate complexity. Prerequisite(s): MATH 39, MATH 161A, and MATH 167R, all with a C- or better, or instructor consent. Allowed declared major: Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or Bioinformatics.
