Discusses the theoretical and practical issues arising in the context of computer systems security and the principles underlying the design of secure computing environments. Topics include cryptography, security models, authentication protocols, network security, intrusion detection, attacks and their countermeasures, and secure systems design. May be taken Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) with consent of instructor and graduate advisor.
