Radiative transfer of continuum and line radiation, Einstein coefficients, photoionization equilibria, radiation by free electrons, bremsstrahlung and synchrotron emission, Compton and inverse Compton scattering, wave propagation through magnetized plasmas, atomic and molecular structure and spectra, atomic fine structure, and molecular hyperfine lines. May be taken Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) with consent of instructor and graduate advisor.
