SOC 124: SPORTS, COMPETITION, AND SOCIETY

Surveys competitive sports groups with respect to the functions they perform, the allocation of roles, the use of rewards and punishments, risks and harms that athletes face, and deviant behavior. Offers a historical overview and examines factors that produce elite performance.
