COMM 160CG: COMM CULTURE GLOBAL
University of California, Santa Barbara
To be able to communicate across intercultural contexts is not only an esse ntial life skill but also an ethical obligation. Globalization provides opp ortunities and challenges to effective intercultural communication. In an e ra where the line between “our” and “other” cultures is rapidly disappearin g, moving, and changing, learning how globalization processes shape our com munication and cultural practices is a key element of a liberal arts educat ion. In this course, we explore the interconnections between communication, culture, and globalization. We will define and critique differing visions of globalization and reflect on how communication can be a tool for social justice in a global world.
