ENGL 107: CRAFT OF FICTION

This course focuses on the essential elements of fiction writing. Students learn the basics of characterization, plotting, perspective, thematics, pla cement, and style. They will explore the power of oral, visual, and written narrative as an individual and communal act. What is at stake in creating a believable fictional world? How does fiction express the truth of reality ? How do stories imagine and create new political and social worlds? Course work involves a combination of written assignments, peer workshops, and pub lic readings.
