ENGL 297: INTRO TO GRAD STUDY

Introduces graduate students in English to the department, the university, and the disciplines in which we work. We'll focus on practical matters of pedagogy including discussions of classroom practice and options for gradin g, and explore various genres of academic and professional writing, includi ng the dissertation prospectus, the conference paper, and the journal artic le. Beyond the fundamentals of disciplinary practice, we’ll also explore b road issues affecting the study of the humanities in California today. Stu dents in the first year of the program are strongly encouraged to enroll.
