ENGL 92RA: APOCALYPSE

This introduction to reading fiction gives an overview of the apocalyptic g enre from a historical perspective, followed by an examination of the ways in which contemporary films and fiction have reimagined gender roles and ge nerations through the use of the apocalypse as a paradoxical cure and curse . The purpose of this course is to practice close reading, analytical think ing skills, and crafting original short-form narratives to examine U.S. gen der and culture as depicted in current film, fiction, and popular culture.
