The course focu ses on organization of production, state formation, African civilizations a nd identities, science and technology, beliefs and knowledge systems, Afric a?s interaction with the world economy, such as through enslavement and sla ve trades. Weekly discussion sections are an important feature of this cour se, enabling students to develop and expand upon material presented during lecture.
