This course supports transfer students in their transition to UCSB through a CALM framework: Community, Action, Leadership, and Mentorship. Students r esearch a campus or community concern and share findings through collaborat ive presentations. They explore campus organizations that inspire action an d connect involvement to local and global issues. The course also introduce s leadership opportunities, emphasizing emotional intelligence and communic ation skills. Finally, students examine the role of mentorship in academic success and career development. Through reflection and guided activities, s tudents build belonging, confidence, and a personalized plan for engagement at UCSB.
