INT 86BD: BOOKS BEFORE PRINT

Intended for first-year students, this discovery seminar explores medieval manuscripts in Special Collections. Over the course of the quarter, student s will learn how to handle manuscripts, understand their production, and in terpret their decoration. We will examine a range of genres, including: Par is Bibles, Books of Hours, scientific notebooks, Qurans, and choir books. W e will also consider how medieval book-making practices carried over into p rint—still shaping our experience of the written word today.
