ME 225BM: SP: BIOFLUID MECHS
University of California, Santa Barbara
Applies the principles of fluid mechanics and transport phenomena to major biological systems, in particular the human body. The course focuses on phy siologically relevant flow and transport phenomena from an engineering pers pective. Topics covered include blood flow in the cardiovascular system, ai r flow in the respiratory system, transport processes in joints, and how ab normal fluid mechanics relates to disease. Addresses the rheology of comple x fluids, flow through elastic tubes, and transport in porous media. Simple numerical models will be used in the course.
