MUS 116X: AMER EXPERIMENT MUS

A survey of the American experimental tradition in music and related arts, starting with John Cage and continuing through generations of those have fo llowed in his path through the present day. Students will read primary sour ces by these artists as well as secondary literature from theoretical and h istorical perspectives; course activities will also include study and discu ssion of experimental artworks, written responses, and creative activities.
