Migration is about the movement of people from one place to another. But th is movement is not simple. Individuals do not experience spatial mobility i n the same way. This course examines the variegated ways in which gender co urses through the veins of migration processes and migrant lives, illuminat ing migration as a process that shapes gender while, simultaneously, is sha ped by gender. Even as new formulations emerge to challenge previous notion s about what being a “man” or a “woman” entail, offering ways to move beyon d this binary, normative views about gender persist, embedding themselves w ithin the politics of human mobility and moving through our deeply interdep endent world.
