Introduction to the basic computational methods, theory, open-source software, and algorithms that are commonly used in molecular sequence analysis. Topics to be covered include types and formats of biological sequence data, the use of common sequence databases, the underlying algorithms for sequence alignment and sequence searching, an introduction to the de novo assembly of genomes, and Hidden Markov Model methods used for genome annotation and structural predictions.
