DANC 1214: Modern Dance I

Introduction to modern dance styles for beginners. Elementary modern dance concepts are introduced, including floorwork, standing exercises, and locomotor patterns. Students learn, embody, and demonstrate basic movement vocabulary in a dance studio setting.� Body alignment, placement, strength, flexibility and coordination are addressed. Students explore modern dance as a creative practice and artistic expression.� Specific modern technique or style varies per instructor.� Recommended for students with no prior experience in modern dance. Open to all University students.
