HLTH 6230: Community Health Practice Capstone

University of North Carolina, Charlotte

The culminating, integrative curricular experience for students enrolled in the MPH program with a Concentration in either Community Health Practice or Physical Activity and Nutrition; students are required to take this class during their last semester prior to graduation. The course draws on students' prior training in the core areas of public health; their additional required coursework in their concentration; and their field experience gained in their internship or service activities. The capstone course is closely linked to the MPH internship. It is designed to challenge students to reflect and integrate their training and experience with the goal of developing their own individual point of view regarding the role of public health, but also how each student sees him/herself fitting into public health practice.
