University of North Carolina, Charlotte

Provides students with hands-on, experiential learning through direct engagement with a local small business, non-profit, or government organization. Students will work in teams to provide cybersecurity risk assessments under the supervision of the instructor and coaches. Advanced students may also be asked to develop new policies or to provide technical assistance. This course simulates a real-world consulting environment, emphasizing professionalism, collaborative thinking, and communication skills to address the cybersecurity challenges faced by under-resourced organizations. Doctoral students who successfully complete the course are eligible to work as student assistants in subsequent semesters.
