MEGR 2289: Introduction to Precision Engineering and Metrology

An examination of various aspects of precision engineering and metrology. A focus will be placed on relevant industrial metrology instruments such as profilometers, structured light scanners, CMMs, and more; these will be demonstrated in the metrology laboratory. The importance of slideways, bearings, flexures, actuators, and sensors in precision instrumentation will be demonstrated. Students will be exposed to the value added by precision engineering and metrology and potential career pathways in a variety of fields.
