MUSC 3129: Music Theories of the World

The study of musical characteristics of diverse musical traditions from around the world. Through transcription and analysis of various music styles from around the world, tuning, notation systems, melody, mode, rhythm, and form are covered in depth, with additional consideration of how the musical instruments, lives of musicians, and social settings of performances relate to the musical systems.
