PHIL 3039: Topics in Ethics/Aesthetics: Feminist Healthcare Ethics

Specific topics of�Ethics/Aesthetics. Section information text: Feminist Healthcare Ethics examines various healthcare topics through a bio/ethical feminist lens. Class readings and discussion will focus upon ethical questions that explore the concerns of feminists regarding reproductive health, cancer, ageing, the “standard of care’, the ‘role of caring’, disability, globalization, as well as societal power imbalance and legislation. Also, we will explore feminist bio/ethical concerns of grief, HIV/AIDS, and the ethical dilemmas involving decision making, sex selection, clinical trials, genetic testing, and consent (including the discussion of consent for those who are not able to consent). Class discussion will allow us to explore the ethical question of responsibility within each of these topics.
