POLS 3070: Topics in Political Phil: Ethical Intelligence in the Age of AI

Analysis of a selected problem in contemporary political philosophy, legal philosophy, or in the history of political philosophy. Includes moral and ethical evaluation of political and social practices and institutions. Readings from classic texts or contemporary works. Topic for consideration changes from semester to semester. Section information text: This course will examine ethical dimensions of the intelligence community’s increasing reliance on artificial intelligence platforms for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence. Specific themes will include practical judgment/critical thinking in national security, the limits and possibilities of machine learning for national security, the role of AI platforms in targeting, public-private partnerships, and the dual-use dilemma.
