Examination of special psychological topics.� Preparation of one or more APA-style research papers required. Section information text: This course looks at the risks of social media, with a focus on disinformation, fake news, and conspiracy theories. Drawing on ideas from philosophy, psychology, and media and technology studies, it explores how people form beliefs, why false information spreads so easily, and how social media platforms shape what we see and who we trust online. Students will learn how these dynamics affect public debate, democracy, and our shared understanding of truth. The course also helps students develop practical skills for critically evaluating online information and media sources.
