FS 167: Forensic Molecular Biology

San Jose State University

History, scientific concepts, methods, practices, instrumentation, interpretation, statistics, and court issues of forensic DNA analysis via lectures, hands-on activities/laboratories, and videos. Collection, documentation, and preservation of biological evidence, bioethics, QA, validation, admissibility, and training will also be covered. Prerequisite(s): FS 57; BIOL 31, CHEM 1A, and CHEM 1B; all with C or better. Lecture 3 hours + lab 3 hours.
