TA 121: World Theatre II

San Jose State University

Students will survey key periods in the history of theatre from the mid-twentieth century to our present times. Examine plays, playwrights, political contexts, and staging practices from across the world that led to the development of theatre as we know it today. Contextualize performances within the cultures that produced them to understand how theatre and culture mutually influence each other. Examine what it means to write and represent the past through studies of performance historiography.
