CHFD 6240: Advanced Studies in Infant and Child Development

This advanced course centers on the study of human development within the context of family, community, culture, and society beginning at conception through early childhood. Students will examine the role of families in children's learning and development as well as the interaction between biological and environmental factors that have a direct influence on or that place the child at risk for developmental delay or disability. In-depth review of historical and contemporary theoretical perspectives on human development, developmental domains of infants and young children, and children's relationships within their families and society will be emphasized.
