ENGL 3084: Topics in Global Cultures, Diverse Lit: Fashion, Feminism, and Freedom in the Global South

Selected topics in global cultures, identities, and diverse literatures. Section information text: In this course, we will combine visual rhetorics, transnational feminist theories, and material history to examine the use of fashion as a means of oppression, progression, and emancipation for women, specifically women in the Global South. We will explore archival images, news, virtual museums of textiles & fashion, and digital footage of women's protests and movements from across the globe alongside readings in rhetorical and feminist theories to develop a political theory of fashion.
