An overview of the development of children's communicative competence as well as the foundations of language and literacy in the context of a diverse society. Course content covers theories, contexts for development, linguistic diversity, and information/media literacy. A service learning component of 15 hours for the semester is required. Prerequisite(s): CHAD 60 or CHAD 70
