University of North Carolina, Charlotte

Introduction to the principles of evidence-based practice, research, and policy in order to critically evaluate information available from research and professional consensus. Professionals in child and family studies and related fields must make judgments about assessment, intervention, and instruction in collaboration with other professionals and families representing diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. As such, they must be able to interpret, evaluate, apply and produce research related to the provision of services in a wide variety of settings. Contemporary research, policy, and leadership in fields related to child and family studies including early childhood education, and early intervention/early childhood special education is emphasized.
