TESL 4204: Learning, Schools, & Community

An introduction to supportive teaching and learning practices that operate as reflective spaces within the school context and the communities they serve. Topics include: current school and community demographics, contemporary learning trends, connections to state and national policies, academic language and literacy development patterns, and community-oriented differentiated instruction. Clinical hours required. Section information text: This course is reserved for candidates in the TESL & SECD Ed minors, SPED and MDLG majors. This course requires a 20 hour community engagement project that will meet on site throughout the semester. Travel is required.
